About Wesley
Wesley Carter's Works of Art have been welcomed into many shows across the country, and her creations are owned by both private collectors and major corporations. Residing in Isle of Palms, SC, Wesley is the resident artist at Herlong & Associates on neighboring Sullivan’s Island, a nationally recognized, full service architecture and interior design firm, specializing in custom coastal home design and residential renovations. Working with conservation organizations such as The Chesapeake Bay Foundation, she developed a series of paintings to help motivate and educate members.
Originally from Annapolis, MD, Wesley comes from a family of east coast artists dating back several generations. The rich experience of growing up on the Chesapeake Bay surrounded by art and artists, combined with her own diversified background in fine art, graphic design, and marine biology helped form her passion for painting wildlife, marine, and coastal subjects.
Working in oil, watercolor, and mixed media, her paintings are built with layers upon layers of transparent colors, glazes and textures. With balanced combinations of imagination vs. realism, detail vs. simplicity, light vs. dark, and action vs. rest. The paintings are a reflection of her perspective of how opposites can interact within a greater whole, as part of a dynamic system.
Continuing the family tradition, Wesley's partner is her son, Kent Krebeck. Along with the fine art business, they launched The Blue Coast Company in 2011. Wesley's original art and graphics are featured on the clothing and accessories. The Blue Coast lifestyle brand reflects the passion for sports, wildlife, and the activities experienced along the coasts. The Blue Coast's ideology of “Life…on the edge” truly reflects the coastal lifestyle. In the competitive market of performance apparel and marine art, Blue Coast is setting new standards for the industry.
